Ontario Mercantile Exchange (ONMEX) founded on February 22th, 1996, is one of the main futures exchanges in Canada offers a wide range of futures products including energy products (Heating Oil, Crude Oil WTI, Gasoline RBOB, Natural Gas, Crude Oil Brent, Ethanol), grains (Wheat, Corn, Soybeans, Oats etc.), metals (Gold, Silver, Copper etc.), softs (Cotton, Orange Juice, Coffee, Sugar, Lumber, Cocoa), currencies (US Dollar, British Pound, Canadian Dollar, Swiss Franc, Australian Dollar, Mexican Peso, New Zealand Dollar, Japanese Yen, Chinese Yuan)

Over the past 17 years, with its sound operation and quick growth, ONMEX has become an important futures exchange in Canada. In 2008, ONMEX entered a period of rapid development as volumes sky-rocketed. Trading volumes in 2009, 2010 and 2011 were 272 million contracts, 328 million contracts and 477 million contracts respectively. In 2007, ONMEX ranked 10th among 54 exchanges worldwide in terms of trading volume making ONMEX the largest commodity exchange in. Trading volume remained steady in 2012 with over 480 million contracts traded. As 2012 drew to a close, ONMEX's member companies reached 188, its designated delivery storage facilities amounted to 83 and it attracted 12,000,000 investors from all continents. ONMEX has been playing an important role in commodity price discovery, protecting the interests of traders by offering risk management tools and providing guidance for trading.
